World Snooker Championship

The ONGC-IBSF World Snooker Championship is being organized under the aegis of the IBSF (International Billiards & Snooker Federation). The event will be conducted in Hyderabad City, Andhra Pradesh at the prestigious Hyderabad International Convention Center (HICC) from 15th November 2009 till 25 November 2009 by the Billiards & Snooker Federation of India.

This mega championship event also dubbed as “Olympics of Cue Sports” is expected to witness participation from more than 200 top class international players from nearly 80 countries vying for the coveted Championship Title in Men, Women and Masters formats. All the Players competing at the World championship are top ranked (No. 1 & No. 2) in their respective countries and thus the host city Hyderabad will be ground for exhibiting best talent and sportsmanship that can be witnessed in cue sports.

The tournament will also see participation of top ranked Indian players like Geet Sethi, Pankaj Advani, Rupesh Shah, Yasin Merchant, Manan Chandra, Devendra Joshi, Aditya Mehta etc.

The opening, closing and prize distribution ceremonies are being planned to be glitzfull events with invitee’s that include Hon’ble Minister for Sports & Youth Affairs, Other Central and State Government Ministers along side select celebrities to endorse and promote not only the event but also the cue sports as a whole.

The ONGC-IBSF World Snooker Championship will also receive extensive coverage in the print and electronic media at both national and international levels. The host association is doing the needful to rope in an international Sports Channel for live coverage globally and plans include webcasting of the live event on INTERNET as well to reach wide audience. The federation is also chalking out extensive promotion plans through Outdoor, Print and Web Campaigns.
